Privacy, permissions, and your data

What Team Tasks can access in your Google account, how that data is protected, and how to take it with you or delete it.

The short version

Team Tasks asks for your Google sign-in profile and Google Tasks. If you turn on the calendar overlay, it also asks for read-only Google Calendar access to calendars you own. It never asks for Gmail or Google Drive. Your tasks stay in your Google account, and you can export your data or delete your account from Settings at any time.

How your data is protected

Who can see what

Download your data

  1. Open your avatar menu and choose Settings.
  2. Under Privacy & data, click Download my data. You'll get a JSON file.

Do this before you leave if you want to keep assignees, comments, and labels. They only exist in Team Tasks, while titles, notes, due dates, and done states are already in Google Tasks.

Disconnect Google

Delete your account

  1. Open Settings and scroll to Delete account.
  2. Type your email address to confirm and click Delete my account.

If you're the only owner of a company or department, make someone else an owner first. Deleting your Team Tasks account doesn't delete anything from Google Tasks. You can also sign out everywhere at once with Sign out of all devices in Settings.

Frequently asked questions

Can Team Tasks read my email?

No. Team Tasks never requests access to Gmail or Google Drive. It asks for your Google sign-in profile and Google Tasks, plus read-only access to events on calendars you own only if you turn on the calendar overlay.

Does Team Tasks store my calendar events?

No. If you turn on the calendar overlay, events from Google Calendars you own are shown alongside your deadlines. They are displayed, not stored, and never changed.

Can my teammates see my personal Google Tasks?
